Our Story

Born in 2014

ISAAC was developed out of the needs of NewTV, an award-winning nonprofit Community Media center in Newton, MA, which had begun to outgrow its database software. The old software was unable to keep pace with NewTV’s growth, and the employees were in search of a one-stop solution to manage all the services they could provide. When none of the solutions on the market seemed to be the right fit, they decided to take a more innovative approach. In the words of Plato, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”

In 2014, NewTV began development of ISAAC. “We were trying to replace the older database software we were using, but we were unable to find a suitable replacement,” explains Director of Operations Steve Russo. “Not to be discouraged, and in typical NewTV fashion, we took matters into our own hands and created the exact software we wanted.”The team at NewTV, initially mapped out their plan for ISAAC on paper and later sent the outlines to a development team in Massachusetts. This developer turned the hand-drawn plans into a fully functional software.

ISAAC has grown and improved since that first iteration. ISAAC 2.0 launched in April 2019. In October of that year, NewTV hired a full-time software developer to spearhead the team and design new features.

In response to the continued growth of the ISAAC software, we enlisted the help of an international software company in June 2020. Over the next two years ISAAC was completely re-written using a more robust, modern code.

Two years after the launch of ISAAC 2.0, we introduced ISAAC 3.0 in October 2022. ISAAC 3.0 gives our users new features, a modular interface, and customizable dashboard widgets to enhance their experience.

The roadmap for ISAAC is strong as we continue to collect feedback from our clients to make future iterations of the software even more functional and feature rich.
